Bridging the Gap between Immigration and Employment

PAND is a non-profit settlement service organization in Ottawa. Our main objective is to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate settlement, training and support services and programs to address the employment needs of immigrants, refugees and newcomers to Ottawa as well as the needs of the local labour market experiencing long/short term unemployment.

Our mandate at PAND is to establish a training center to create a central welcoming and operation location for all community activities; connecting clients to public institutions; volunteering opportunities, cross cultural activities; networking; job searching workshops, settlement mentorship as well as training, counselling and educational activities to help newcomers to advance education and community engagement and also provide self-serve facilities and equipment for information and orientation, employment resources & materials, access to computers, photocopying, and phones, job search workshops and supports to empower newcomers and help them integrate into the job market.

Focus Areas

  • To provide education, counselling and other support services for immigrants and refugees in need, including language instruction, employment training, job search programs, translation services and information programs on Canadian culture and life.
  • To develop employment training and education programs for needy persons

  • To provide counselling to needy persons experiencing long term unemployment.

  • To provide assistance to needy persons in drafting resumes, searching for employment and preparing for job interviews.

  • To establish, maintain and operate an employment training centre for needy unemployed and low skilled workers.
